The US Federal Communications Commission imposed a ban on foreign-made robots on July 28 citing cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The ban covers humanoid robots four-legged robots and robot vacuum cleaners manufactured abroad. The FCC said the White House convened an interagency body that determined foreign-made robots pose a national security risk. The ban defines advanced robotic devices as mechanical mobile devices with sensors network connectivity and onboard or cloud-based AI software.
