Google Photos Adds New AI Video Remix Tool
Image: Primary Google announced a new Video Remix feature for Google Photos on July 8, 2026. The company said the feature can edit and transform videos in seconds and is powered by Gemini Omni, its recently released model.
The Video Remix tool can be accessed in the Create tab in Google Photos. It allows users to apply cinematic relighting to brighten up a dark clip, swap out a plain background for something else or add artistic styles to videos such as watercolor, raw sketchbook and oil painting effects.
With Video Remix in Google Photos users can transform ordinary videos into share-worthy moments in just a few taps using a library of easy-to-use templates according to a Google blog post. The Create tab serves as a central hub for creativity in Google Photos. The tool helps users make content in seconds by instantly applying cinematic relighting to spruce up a dark clip, swapping out a plain background for something fun or adding artistic treatments such as watercolor, raw sketchbook and oil painting effects.
